Div 1A Result: Kilmacow 2 - 4 Southend

Match Day 4

At Home to Southend
Kick off 11:00am

Score:
Kilmacow 2 - 4 Southend

Our good start to the season came to a halt on Sunday morning.

The first half was a scrappy affair with neither side creating too many chances.

Darren McDonald had the only real chance of the half when he latched on to a through ball from Ray Grant only to see his shot flash past the upright.

Both defences seemed to be on top with no indications of the goal spree that was to follow.

Into the second half and we were punished for some sloppy defending from a corner from which Southend took the lead with a free header at the near post.

The same mistake was repeated a minute later, with a carbon copy of the first goal, another free header.

Southend were in the driving seat but five minutes later we were handed a lifeline when the ball fell to Tom Kirby in the area from a corner and he placed a fine shot to the back of the net.

Southend were gifted another goal two minutes later however with a mix up between goalkeeper and centre half letting Southend in for a third.

Lee Vereker then replied within minutes to reduce the deficit to one but another mix up in defence ended our hopes of a comeback with Southend once again punishing our mistake.

The less said of this game the better and a big improvement will be needed next time out.
